WINTER SWIMMING: COLD WATER INDUCTION

Some of our venues are open all year round, this means cold water lovers can continue to swim throughout Winter. In line with our priority for safety first, we need to ensure you are are prepared for swimming in the colder months of the year. All swimmers need to be aware of the risks of cold water swimming and be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to swim as safely as possible.

You must show you have completed a Cold Water Induction if you wish to swim at our venue:

  1. Once the water temperature drops below 15°C at any time during the year.
  2. Mandatory between 1 November until 31 March annually (regardless of water temperature, swim ability or experience)

Cold Water Inductions we accept include:

This is NOT required every year. You only need to complete the induction once and have your NOWCA profile updated to show you have completed your cold water induction.

Not only is the venue outstanding at the Royal Docks the feeling of inclusion by all the staff is a huge factor in my own personal enjoyment of outdoor swimming. The fun aspect is also a big factor in why I continue to return not to mention the feeling of being safe in the water.- Nick Stagg - London | Member since 2020
